The conference is named “The Conference on Religion and Climate Change – Southeast Asia” with the theme “Religion and Climate Change: An Effort to Reintroduce Religious Values and Local Culture in Environmental Conservation and Sustainable Development.

“This major theme will be discussed during a series of dialogue sessions, focusing on three topics: reorienting political-economic policies to address the environmental crisis and climate change, the role of religion and religious leaders in mitigating the impacts of climate change, and the influence of religious and social ethics on human behavior towards climate change.

Time & Place

The Conference on Religion and Climate Change for Southeast Asia, will take place over three days, from October 3-5, 2023, at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Mega Kuningan, Jakarta.

Under the gracious patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, the Muslim Council of Elders, in collaboration with the Presidency of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), the Catholic Church, and the United Nations Environment Programme, will host the ‘Global Faith Leaders Summit’ which is scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi on November 6 and 7.
